Private teaching
I started teaching music in 2004. Since then I have taught hundreds of students the joys of learning an instrument, understanding music and uncovering their passion and talent.
With younger and beginning students, I focus on developing strong rhythm and note reading skills. These are the most useful and transferable skills for any budding musician and offer a strong base and tangible progress markers.
As my students advance, artistic aspects come to the forefront. This is often one of the most exciting phases as a student begins to understand not only what a piano is capable of, but they as pianists are able to produce. From warm lyrical legato to fiery staccato the ever increasing musical palette is able to open up new worlds of artistic creativity.
The basic principals that underly my teaching philosophy are firstly enjoyment and pleasure for the student. It will not always be easy (almost never, in fact) but studying music and the piano must bring joy and self satisfaction. Furthermore it must build confidence for the individual. As a form of expression, I encourage my students to recognise the value of the skill they are learning in how it gives them a new way to express themselves.
I currently offer in-home lessons in Paris to students of all ages and abilities. Please don't hesitate to get in touch.
